Ever since I turned 18, I have this desire to exercise my power! Unfortunately, I have never been able to do so even once because since the time I turned 18 I have been living away from home. Living away from home for last 9 years, in different cities made me busy in things that would have otherwise be taken care of by my parents and then there were studies, projects assignments and deadlines to take care of. So, basically, cutting a long story short, I never got a chance to show my might! This year however, I had decided that come what may I will not miss this opportunity. After all its once in 5 years that I get this chance. So, I steeled myself to go through the tedious bureaucratic process, long queues and disinterested babus. So, I started with the first step which surprisingly was easy or at least made easy by the amazing team of jaago re! (which provides information on various forms, registration details, dates etc.). Then, I took all the required documents (which included 2 simple forms, an address proof and an age proof) to the designated office. Now, while I was still grasping my surroundings and preparing myself to spend hours in the decadent office, one babu called me and very politely inquired about my business at the place. He (may there be many more like him!) analyzed my form and helped me by taking it to his colleagues , speaking to them on my behalf and lo! my job was done in less than 15 minutes! As I thanked him and came out with the receipt in my hand, I was smiling because finally I have the power- the power to vote (what else were you thinking!) and in the coming elections I am going to exercise this power! Are you going to do just the same?
For all you folks who still havn't got themselves registered. It is very simple. Visit www.jaagore.com for more details. The website is really helpful for first timers.
good one.. again.. u seem to be gettin into groove pretty fast :)
ReplyDeleteyup.. i did exercise my power once(later on i came to knw that no many people voted for the person i voted for), but am gonna do it this time too..
good going by the way..
PS: normally i dont comment on other people's blogs unless they comment on mine :P
Nice one.
ReplyDeleteI got my new voter ID card done yesterday.
I guess we all have a very bad opinion about the govt offices and end up not wasting our precious time in getting one.
But believe me it is a very smooth process and well refined now.
you can get all the info from jaagore.com website.Hats off to ppl who take care of this website.
Divya
I lost my old power ... :) It had given me 5 years of guilt and uncertainty... Now I got a new one... another 5 years gone :)... Great going btw...:)
ReplyDeleteHey Kartik, thanks for the generosity man! I am sure going to comment on your blog right after this!
ReplyDeleteDivya, yes you are right. Most of us just assume a lot of things and don't really give things a shot and the government offices and officers are forever labeled incompetent and 'bad'. It is not really that bad!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dibya! btw Hope is the name of life!
ReplyDeleteHmm, a job nicely done. I am sure you wouldnt have expected to get it done so easily and quickly.
ReplyDeleteAnd i hope you would have exercised your new found power well in the elections :)
