I am was a big fan of The Office (US version). There was a time when I used to watch back-to-back-to-back episodes of the comedy and was done with multiple seasons within a matter of few days.
Then, the heartbreaking news of Steve Carell leaving the show came. My heart sank and I could never imagine The Office being the same without him.
Like everyone else, I had told myself that the show was doomed and will soon go off air. (Even Ricky Gervais comicly mocked Carell at one of the award shows telling him that his decision has made sure both Gervais and Carell come to road!)
And as if to prove the point, this is the show's last season! Well, I missed "Michael Scott" last year and could not bring myself to watch the first non-Carell season. (I instead watched Crazy, Stupid Love to get my dose.) But then, last week, I watched an episode of The Office on Hulu: a recent episode that featured no Carell, but had Andy (Ed Helms) as the boss and some new characters. I don't know what really made me click the play button, but I watched it. And to my own surprise, I found myself laughing for a big part of the show. It was funny! And it was good funny!
I may not watch another episode of the show, (or may be I will,) but the fact that the show is still funny and is funny without its principal character(which many thought may not be possible) is really a huge credit to the writers, creators and other actors.
